Chris of "Joe's Table for Two" recently visited Tacos El Tio in Egg Harbor Township, which serves up some of the best tasting authentic Mexican cuisine around.
It may not look like much from the outside, but inside, the decorations and atmosphere make you feel that you are in a legitimate Mexican restaurant. That's because you are.
Cozy lighting, paintings on the walls, multiple TV's and a bar that is themed like a taco truck are great atmospheric attractions.
The staff was extremely friendly and accommodating, always asking how we were and how our experience was. It was very nice to see a staff that cares so deeply about how their customers are doing.
Now the fun part. We had heard that the nachos were HUGE, and they were. Served "Nachos El Tio" style, the nachos contained all 3 meats, chicken, steak and chorizo, topped with cheese, pico de gallo, sour cream, refried beans and jalapeno peppers. These chips were amazing and absolutely loaded. Just a warning: if you dare attempt to take on these chips, do not do it alone. This is a two person operation. But the nachos were some of the most delicious we have ever had.
For dessert, we took in some tasty Flan with caramel and strawberries. The Spanish style custard was sweet and creamy and finished off the perfect meal.
Tacos el Tio is one of the best places to get the full experience of eating Mexican cuisine, and remember, there's always a table for two!
