Jordan of "Joe's Table for Two" recently visited Poppi's Brick Oven in Wildwood, New Jersey. Located in the heart of Wildwood, Poppi's features gourmet burgers, salads, pasta, Italian entrees, and of course, brick oven pizzas. With both dining inside and outside, a comfortable, friendly atmosphere is carried throughout. Service was fast, even at peak dinner service on a Saturday night.
Sampled for dinner was the Buffalo 7" pizza. The sauce was not overwhelming, and it was well balanced with the cheese, ranch, and celery it was topped with. Also sampled was the Hamburger Italiano. This dish features an 8oz Kobe beef burger with caramelized onions, homemade smoked mozzarella, dijon mustard & mayo. The mayo and dijon mustard perfectly complemented the onions and burger. The highlight of the night was the parmesean truffle fries that accompanied the burger. Fried to perfection with a black truffle oil, these fries are a must when visiting Poppi's.
Reservations are not accepted, so be sure to get to Poppi's early if you want to avoid a wait. With a friendly staff, relaxing atmosphere, quick service, and great food, this is a restaurant not to be missed.
