Ingredients
Sponge cake, crumbled - 1/2 pound
Seedless white raisins, soaked in rum - (1/2 cup of both)
Shelled walnuts - 3/4 cup
Pine nuts - 1/2 cup
Almonds, peeled and finely chopped - 1/2 cup
Diced mixed candied peel - 1/3 cup
Sugar syrup - 1/2 cup
Butter for cake pan
Mix all ingredients together until well blended, adding enough sugar syrup to hold the mixture together. Turn into a well buttered rectangular pan and bake in a moderate oven (375F) for 20 to 30 minutes. Leave to cool and serve cut in thick slices.
